Hello everyone, I am PhD candidate at Tilburg University, Department of Organization Studies. My research focuses on inter-organizational meetings such as conferences and trade-fairs. I investigate how such events affect innovation, knowledge exchange, inter-personal and inter-organizational collaboration and networks. I use large sets of structured and unstructured archival data (i.e., patents, publications, proceedings and conference programs) to estimate the effect of events for individuals, companies, regions and industries. I am glad I found this forum of like-minded researchers and I look forward to join interesting discussions.
Have you considered conceptualising these meetings as “field-configuring events”? See, for example, the work of Tammar Zilber or Elke Schüßler.
